Stacy's Story
Completing Dr. Krumdieck's Energy Engineering paper in my final year I came to understand the links between engineering and sustainability, and decided to pursue further study as part of the AEMS Lab.
Over the summer of 2007/2008 I undertook a research scholarship for the AEMS Lab, under Dr. Shannon Page, which involved the engineering design of a tool to manage fuel supply disruption events; this resulted in the development of the Fuel Retail Management System, including a research paper and computer model.
Before beginning my PhD I spent some time living and working under a Workers On Organic Farms (WOOFing) agreement in three different 'eco-village' style communities within New Zealand, to investigate the practial application of some sustainable methods; particularly healthy and natural homes, renewable energy generation and Permaculture.
My main research interest now lies in the development of tools to produce a feasible vision of a sustainable New Zealand, continuing on from the Silke Project.
